Ammonia Chillers

(A specialty for Tempest)

  • Fully welded refrigerant piping
  • Only industrial components are offered on all Tempest ammonia units
  • Components mounted on heavy-duty steel skids
  • ASME certified pressure vessels standard
  • Insulation available as a standard option
  • Factory run test available as a standard option

Air Cooled Chillers

  • Capacity range from 50 to 350 tons with a variety of refrigerants
  • Fan cycling or VFD condenser control available
  • Condensers can be designed to be skid or remote mounted
  • Motor disconnects, receiver head pressure control regulators, and weatherproofing coatings are common options

 

Evaporative Cooled Chillers

  • Offers slightly more efficient system versus an air-cooled unit when ample make-up water is available and environmental conditions are favorable for evaporative cooling
  • Fan/Pump cycling or fan VFD control are available
  • Condenser can be skid or remote mounted
  • Winterization, weatherproofing, and adding a liquid receiver are common options

 

Low & Ultra Low-Temp. Chillers

  • (+20 deg F) to (-70 deg F)
  • Units offered can be single-stage, two-stage, or cascade units
  • Capacity starting at 5 tons and up
  • Factory run testing of systems down to -60 DEG F available
  • Insulation available as a standard option

 

Explosion Proof Chillers

  • Compliance to Class 1 Div. 2 C&D hazardous areas as a standard
  • Open drive compressor motors standard, or semi-hermetic offered when available
  • Remote mounted or purged control panel
  • Other area compliance and component specifications by request

 

Flooded Chillers

  • Offers variable load control for batch processes reducing compressor cycling versus a similarly sized DX system
  • Typically more price competitive in larger capacities of 100+ Tons
  • Tempest offers only top of line oil recovery systems on all flooded chiller systems

Rack Chillers

  • Multiple compressors mounted on a common base rack for distributed refrigeration supply
  • Typically offered with a condenser package
  • Reciprocating or screw compressors available as standard
  • High turndown

  • Note: Any fluid tempeature application requiring temperatures below -80F requires liquid nitrogen exchange.
